Not to be confused with the founder of the Scouts, Baden Powell de Aquino was a supremely nimble-fingered Brazilian guitarist and arranger. Like Luiz Bonfa and Laurindo Almeida, Baden Powell combined a heady mix of bossa nova, samba with classical elements to great effect. I love how Brazilian music often has a bittersweet feel and I feel Baden Powell was an absolute master at conveying this particular sensibility.
