ACHIM REICHEL & MACHINES

Time for transcendence!

FRANCOISE HARDY

Everyone loves Francoise. Here's a nice video of her on French television in the late eighties shrouded in dry ice.

SAVAGE PROGRESS

Rik Kenton's (of Roxy Music) pop group. Lots of nice psychedelic whirrs and aggressive in-ya-face camera dancing.

GENE PAGE

A nice optimistic number from an absurdly prolific composer/arranger dude.

JAN HAMMER GROUP

Mr Miami Vice gets all Miami nice.

RACHEL ZEFFIRA

Her vocal is reminiscent of Trish Keenan, a singer I couldn't miss more. This is lovely stuff. Check out her new album, 'The Deserters.'

PAUL McCARTNEY

Oh, Paul. How do you do it?

PAUL DUPONT

My favourite cut from the 'Music For Dancefloors: The Cream of the Chappell Music Library Sessions.' Paul Dupont = library music colossus Roger Webb.

TOMMY SEEBACH

All sex should be bubble sex.

DON DOWNING

Don's got a PHD from the school of knocks. What you got?

ALDO ROMANO

Very little clarinet on the blog thus far. I'm fairly certain it's a clarinet playing but I could be wrong as I never made it sound like this in my ten years of playing it.

SHIRLEY HORN

This Miles Davis/Bill Evans masterpiece of understatement and reflection is rendered beautifully by Shirley Horn. Complete with wind chimes.

GREG HAWKES

The sound of industry in 1983. Hyper productive.

CLINIC

Daniel Lopatin's recent mix of Clinic's 'Free Reign' LP has got me hooked on the group - a band who I had somewhat sidelined until now. Would be nice to hear Baldelli remix the entire album also.

AGITATION FREE

I imagine this is what being guided by disembodied voices to a remote stone circle over foggy moorland sounds like.

DJAMEL ALLAM

Progressive folk from Algeria, 1974. Quite a stunner.

MILTON HAMILTON

Here's the real deal! Taken from 'Crystalized - Disco Madness', 1976.  Can be found on the Bob Blank compilation 'The Blank Generation: Blank Tapes NYC 1975-1987.' Track it down!

BONNIE KOLOC

Poor Aunt Edna. Bonnie spins a sad tale.

LITTO NEBBIA

Doing it for the kids in 1985. Magic as ever from this formidable Argentinian.

WATER MELON GROUP

Exotica via Japan. Yes. Please.

EKKEHARD EHLERS

I was going to post Ekkehard's remix of the Red Hot Chili Peppers' 'Californication' but couldn't quite bring myself to do it. Worth checking out the first two minutes of the remix though. Here's his tribute to John Cassavetes. The track is taken from 'Plays' which also features tributes to Albert Ayler, Robert Johnson and Cornelius Cardew. It is well worth tracking down if you haven't already.

DIN A TESTBILD

Mark Eins and Gudrun Gut's avant-industrial group. Taken from Programm 1 which was released on Klaus Schulze's IC record label.

BAISER

Take this one for a stroll when the weather's good.

TOPPER HEADON

Some of Headon's post-Clash solo tracks are a little heavy handed although this stands out. A very nice percussive jam.

BLUNDETTO

Floating in from Paris. Downbeat, dubby cumbia?

COATI MUNDI

Uber-charismatic-disco-samba magic.
