SUSO SAIZ

Spanish drift. Taken from a prohibitively expensive LP.

PSYYCCHH!

You may have noticed that I've taken a slight hiatus from the blog. But for now enjoy this mix I recorded recently. Journey to the centre of your mind etc.

RICHARD EVANS

Christ, what an album cover! This is flirtation in song form.

JOACHIM WITT

That groove, maan. That groove.

TANGERINE DREAM

Pretty bloated stuff, but once you get beyond the bombast there's a very nice vibe indeed contained within. If I ever jet-ski this'll be the one to have on the jet-ski stereo full blast.

TORCH SONG

William Orbit's group.

AHMED FAKROUN

As heard on Young Marco's stellar Boiler Room stint. Totally excellent.

BRUNO MOSTI

Italo-disco is the most bank holiday sounding music there is.

DALTO

Bank holiday!

PACT BETWEEN STRANGERS

Elle Andrews & myself guested on Pact Between Strangers on April 10th. Was a lot of fun! Hopefully you'll enjoy it as much as we did.

JEFFERSON STARSHIP

One of life's trickiest questions: Airplane or Starship?

RONNIE HAZLEHURST

Ronnie C Inna Dub Stylee. Psychemagik re-work the theme to Ronnie Corbett's seventies sitcom.

STEVE HACKETT

Far, far away from the court of the crimson king.

EDDIE C

O Ye!

CHARLES COHEN

Getting things done with the aid of a Buchla.

EARTH WIND & FIRE

It's been a long time, I shouldn't have left you without a dope beat to step to. So, have a bit of modern day EW&F as consolation.

MARK CAPANNI

The original version of this tune made famous by the Jackson Singers.

GREG FOAT GROUP

I'm a huge fan of Greg Foat's 'Girl & Robot With Flowers' record. Vakula keeps this remix vibe heavy. Space in-Tjader.

IPPU-DO

Ippu-Do and Steve Jansen/Richard Barbieri from Japan convey the sea-lion's plight in a way only early eighties synth-pop can neatly and expressively surmise.

ALCEU VALENCA

Magico!

KIM ENGLISH

Lush! And good advice.

BOCA LIVRE

Boca Livre's (including Vasconcelos and Jobim) full LP 'Bicicleta' is on YouTube! Massively chipper feel to the whole thing.

RAGNARÖK

Not to be confused with the Norwegian black metal group. Stumbled across this sweet drifter at random. According to Wikipedia, in Norse mythology "Ragnarök is a series of future events, including a great battle foretold to ultimately result in the death of a number of major figures (including the gods Odin, Thor...), the occurrence of various natural disasters, and the subsequent submersion of the world in water. Afterward, the world will resurface anew and fertile, the surviving and returning gods will meet, and the world will be repopulated by two human survivors."

MAXIMUM JOY

Very apt band name!

CAFE JACQUES

The slinkiest AOR via Edinburgh.

ANDREAS VOLLENWEIDER

Great to hear both HARP and STEEL DRUMS and MARIACHI BAND in this tune. A very rare occurrence.

JOEY NEGRO

Absolute slammer!

MAYNARD FERGUSON

Do the hustle!

AFRICAINE 808

Looking forward to the new Africaine 808 12" dropping through the post. This is tiding me over until then. Toe tapper.

ASSO

This one's not as good as the original (obviously) but it is still stonkingly enjoyable.

DOVES

Two fantastic Doves remixes - both fairly epic. The entire avian community seems to be represented on Chris Watson's remix.

WALLY BADAROU

Who doesn't have time for Wally on a wet, Wednesday night? Instant spring. Always makes me think of Raúl Juliá doing the tango, although I could be getting my movies mixed up...

THE CURE

Flamenco riddim.

SAINT ETIENNE

White Lodge played this Richard X remix at Field Work last night. Heady nights.

BB & Q

Thanks to Guy Enchante for hooking me up with this absolute belter!

LEISURE CENTRALE 8

New mix for 2014! This was created whilst cripplingly hungover so that may account for the fact that my mixing isn't quite as on-point as usual. Wink. Anyway - this one goes hard. It even features lacerating riffage. Give it a bloody listen.

ONUR ENGIN

Raw Silk's 'Do It To The Music' as edited by Onur Engin.

WILLIAM ORBIT

Strange Cargo.

PLASTIC BERTRAND

The version with Bertrand's vocal is a bit irritating. Best stick with the instrumental.

JAY CLAYTON & KIRK NUROCK

Arresting take on a jazz standard. Quick fingers.

GUSTAVO MONTESANO

Homenaje from 1977 in its entirety. Love the epic 'Cuando la Duda se Hace Grande Aldrededor.' Reminds me a bit of Senor Calderon.

SHUGGIE OTIS

The casual beauty from Inspiration Information I had entirely overlooked until today.

POSEIDON

Gets in your head like a trident between the eyes.

PETER DAVISON

I heard about Peter Davison on the fabulous compilation I Am The Center: Private Issue New Age in America, 1950-1990. This is resolution-making music.

JAN REIMER

Jan Reimer is trekking upward until the air gets too thin. Live in 1991.

HAILU MERGIA

Lovely listening from Ethiopia.

LO BORGES

A belated Happy New Year! Back in with a bossa-bang. Thanks to my pal Dave for hooking me up with Lô Borges 'Via Lactea.' Thoroughly magic.
